I have attached 4 photos 1124- The machine 1118 - The part in question ( red circle ) 1121 - The effected gear ( red arrow ) 1123 - The issue, 1/4 fracture of the axle cup ( red arrow at 6 o'clock ). Green arrow showing the area I filled with a hot glue gun in attempt to hold the fracture stable, but the final product was to pliable and has not held up My XXXX has been in contact with the person xx bought the machine from and they are sending a new one, the company also advised that the part is available from "Wolverine" and could be xxxx ..... OR around $xx. xx does not know if xx needs to send the effected machine back or not, they have not mentioned it. If they don't want it back, then I need to find out what xx wants to do. I know xx does not want to spend any more money on it if xx does not have to, but if the whole gear assembly is only about $xx - we may venture that way. ( Which is what I originally reached out to you about ). By then, xx will be done with the xx reels xx is digitally recording - and xx does not plan on keeping it/them. Now.... if you are anxious to try this part out for fabrication purposes, heck... Im all for that and would like to help. I just don't want to waste your time on a complex part from an end user with a small budget. Since this part has numerous small axle cups and parts for all the gears to set in - I figure it would be extremely time consuming to draw up in CAD. From what I have read in forums, etc... this failure on the part is a common happening ( hence the "Wolverine" information we obtained ) Thanks for your time! xxxx ----------------- I ended using a hot-glue gun to fill the space that the axle rides in attempt to keep it from going off axis. This way the xxxx would be able to transfer some of her film - but go figure, it was not much of a fix. After about 10 revolutions, we were back at square one - no worse though. xx has been manually taking up the slack as xx records. ( and watches shows to pass the time ). Until then.... xxxx ------------------ I have a Hammacher Schlemmer Super 8 Film Scanner (1080 - Item 88364) where the drive motor for the take-up reel as skipping gear teeth every revolution. Looking into it, the encased gearbox has a broken plastic axle seat on the output gear drive within it. Beyond what I can repair. Would you happen to know where I can get a new take up reel motor/gearbox assembly?
